Why should you buy this book?

Do you sometimes feel alone?

Or do you mess up when you talk to people?

Do you always overshare and want to hit your head on the wall?

Take a deep breath because you are not the only one.

I was at the exact same place a month ago, hitting my head and cursing myself that, “Why, Adi, why did you say that?” and I know there must be some days that you felt like that too.

So what can we, the people who love to overthink every conversation in our lives, should do, besides overthinking?

Be it your friend’s group or an interview, communication skills are required in every important and ordinary phase of our lives. You can say the right thing and impress the interviewer or you can say the exact thing that irritates the people on the other side.

A successful interview

But how would you know what should you say and how should you say it?

You have all the rights on the planet Earth to speak your mind but you probably know just speaking your mind won’t get you what you want.

So how should you express yourself?

You already know many people who are the apple of everyone’s eyes and have a large group while you sulk inside and scoff. It’s like people hang on to every word they say.

Won’t you like the same?

To be heard when you speak?

To have people who truly admire you and stay with you by their choice?

I am sure you do, well at least I did. So I picked up my phone and ordered the book you probably should have heard about, “How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.”

And I took a whole month to read it.

But before you go on calling me a slow-reader, I would like to suggest you do the same.

This book is to be devoured slowly, word by word. A chapter at a time.

Why?

Because the answers to all the questions above lie in this book.

This book has solutions to all your people-related problems.

Group of happy friends

The author, Dale, teaches us how to talk to people, what to do when we disagree, what to do when they don’t listen to us. It’s the whole package.

And the best part is? This book is so genuine. It isn’t only about doing this or doing that. Dale has used so many examples of people across different sectors of life that you can’t stop but fall in love with it.

How to win an argument? Just don’t have one.

And how to avoid an argument?

I guess Dale can show you better. If he has managed to teach someone like me who loved to hit her head after every conversation, I am sure you would learn so much more than me. So I am not going to ruin the efforts Dale has put into writing this book by making a failed attempt to give you a short blurb.

All I can say is that over 30 million copies of this book have been sold till now and it is as relatable today as it was in 1936 when it was first published. From New York Times to Quora, this book has been praised everywhere.

So what makes this book stand the test of time? What makes people love it for almost 90 years?

Because this book is written about one thing that will never fade as long as life survives: “the art of expression”.

The art of expression is important because we express ourselves in every moment we are alive. We express we are tired when we yawn and our hunger when we eat. And since we always express as long as we live, it becomes important we know how to express ourselves clearly and read others as accurately as humanly possible. By reading this book, I truly hope you never have to face the embarrassment or miss the opportunities as I did.

That’s the whole point of having this blog, right? Helping you not do the same mistakes I made. (Not even the embarrassing typing mistakes. Click here to know more.)

Do check out this book if you wanna be better in your personal and professional life.

My Verdict

My ratings: 5/5

I cannot recommend this book enough. I have read a lot of books but the way this book has helped me in my life is unmatched. Not just my communication skills have become better, I could also handle my temper a lot better.

The methods are practical. You can see the changes in yourself easily.

You’d be more conscious of your actions when something goes wrong and you’d definitely try to make efforts to fix your flaws.

Whoever you are, whatever the age, even if you don’t read books, you can’t afford to miss this one. Trust me, it will just skyrocket your growth.

I really hope you would read this book and avoid any problems in life just because of miscommunications.
